Randy’s Driveshaft Service

Hi fellow car enthusiast car folks! Dne’ here with another informative blog and progress on my 67 Mustang! Many people don’t give a driveshaft much thought, it’s just something under the car of which one will never see, or appreciate! It’s incredibly important and without it, we’d go nowhere fast! 😉

Well, I called Randy’s Driveshaft Service in Houston, Tx, and spoke to the general manager, Dante Medrano.   I informed him that I needed a driveshaft made to fit my newest T5 transmission to hook up to my newly rebuilt 8″ Ford Mustang 3rd member, you know, for my 67 Mustang coupe!

Low and behold he said he could have it for me this afternoon! What are the odds of that! However, for me to go get it, driving from my home to his place and traffic involved, I’ll have to wait until Monday and drive there, but he said he could have it delivered and be to me by Monday! OMG, that’s just fantastic, and sure enough, I got it Monday!;)

I was only 2 years old when Randy’s Driveshaft Service started up! I was still amazed by a pacifier then! lol

Randy’s is a division of Chalk’s Truck Parts.Chalk’s Truck Parts has been in Business since 1957 and they also do Hydraulic pumps & Power Take Off’s! Dante Medrano General Manager Randy’s Driveshaft 8025 Market St Houston,Tx 77029 713-672-6344 Main 713-672-1802 Fax 281-404-5734 Direct

The old shaft on the right is an original driveshaft from my 67 Mustang with a C4 transmission connected to an 8″ third-member. The new driveshaft is going from a ’90 T5 manual transmission to an 8″ 3:55 posi-trac! 😉

My driveshaft on the rack!

Just as tires need balancing, the driveshaft does a well! Looks like a video game;)

But Dne’, how will my driveshaft be delivered????  I wouldn’t want my new driveshaft being all banged up during the shipping process!

I was wondering how my new driveshaft was going to be delivered since I didn’t want to drive across town. IT was wrapped incredibly with packing, so even if you live in New York, don’t be worried, your new driveshaft will arrive in perfect condition!;)

One of the easiest things I’ve done on my mustang, installation of the new driveshaft~ 10 minutes tops!! I thought it was chrome, it was just a shiny gloss black;)

My new driveshaft installed(obviously), I love the decal!~

Backing up a bit:  Since I was in need of a new driveshaft, Dante asks me to measure critical things like in the picture below, and also the length(pretty important!)

Here I’m measuring for the size of the universal joint caps;)

I’m measuring what Dante need as Ford uses a couple different size u-joints, notice my newly rebuilt 3:55 posi-trac from maeracing.com!

I failed to mention that I checked with Mustang vendors, Driveshaft vendors online, but just never felt comfortable with ordering something like this, knowing there could be a problem in it not fitting, which would be terrible! However, After speaking with Dante, and obtaining the measurements, I felt comfortable that it’s going to be OK!;)

We got to start somewhere~ let’s make a driveshaft!!

Someone has to weld it up, I like welding, don’t you! 😉

I wish my shop was that clean and organized!

In the meantime, I’m still accumulating parts for my Mustang, it’s slow progress, but there would be no progress without the fabulous suppliers/vendors, including Randy’s Driveshaft Service!

Well, this comes to a close on this blog, again Thank you Dante, and Randy’s Driveshaft Service!

If you’re in need of a Driveshaft, give them a call! I don’t make anything off of this, it’s just another adventure on my Classic Cars and Tools and the good people who I meet!
