’76 Ford tractor 2600 tires and box blade

Well Golly, here I am once again with a little continuation on my ’76 Ford Tractor 2600;)  Tires like anything, make or break a nice restoration, tractors included. I couldn’t very well restore my tractor without addressing the tires and wheels;)

Here’s where the tractor sat for several years, note the tires are pretty much shot!

The rear tires are kind of a pain, they’re just big, heavy, but I do use my gantry crane to move things, I don’t mess with my back, brains over brawn!;)  Here I’ve separated the inner wheel parts and taking them to my local tractor shop to have the tires dismounted so I can have the wheels blasted;)

I suppose since the weight is carried on the center portions, they’d weigh a bit!

A few days later, Cy-fair blasting and coating called me and my parts are ready for pick up! Alright!  I went ahead and let them coat the parts.

The color is almost white, but in actuality a light gray. Took some imagination to support the large drum looking wheels to get paint on equally.

I was/am very pleased with the outcome!  should be good to go for another 50 years!

I had to reassemble the wheels, so new hardware I located locally at an old Tractor store pretty close to me.

The center is supposed to be mounted before tires can be installed, it’s a very tight fit, especially with the coats of paint on em.

Bonus! The Box blade😉   My father had a car wash and that’s where the tractor came in handy. The car wash bays have to be emptied of mud and muck, then Dad would wheel barrow the crap on a patch of his land, then allow to dry, then he would use the tractor n box blade to level the stuff out.

So, here’s what it looked like and is in need of attention.  Darned heavy!

After getting it back from Cy-blasting and coating, I put it up on my low/tall jack stands to get paint on 99.99% of the box blade. The Ford Blue is so , well, Ford!;)

The lift is a great place to store the box blade until I need it.

With the new Ford Decals in place, it’s ready for service, or show;)

The same place that removed the old tires, ordered my new tires and were ready for installation when I was ready.  I feel lucky in that it was the only local “tire” store which was able to get tractor tires.

Let’s face it, Tractors, whether Ford, John Deere, are just plain awesome machines, especially early model tractors!

Wow, once again, another blog for you my awesome viewers and those that happen to pass by too!  I hope you all have a wonderful day~ when you pass a tractor at work, honk and wave!
