Early Bronco “uncut fenders”
Hey, it’s me dne’~ time to talk about something for goodness sake~ the 100 degree temps have slowed me down to a halt! lol But there are other things going on. Let’s get into it!!!;)
It’s common for people which want an Early Bronco to have the un-cut fenders, it ups the resale and just looks genuine, however there are many people that use the sawzall and cut the fenders, how sad!
The pic below is when I brought my ’72 Bronco home (gag), it’ll be a year old in my care next month. But the pic is mainly to show the fender flares. The fiberglass fender flares are an inexpensive way to give the true 4×4 look, offer height for off road. At this moment, I really didn’t know what I was going to attempt to achieve.
Below: After several weeks of just getting this Bronco cleaner, removed the old fender flares, this is what you get. Sadly, the front fenders were not salvageable, nor was the rear lower fender quarters. If I could do it all over again, I would have just bought an entire new body! lol Live n learn

Belonging to forums is a great way to learn, get advice, meet others~ so a local member from the Classic Broncos forum offered me these cutouts to possibly weld into place to give me that uncut look, but in reality, was just more work than I wanted to do, but unseen, the fender itself was so rusted, it was un-usable.
However and thank goodness for the internet, I found some original uncut front fenders along with a new grill for 500 bucks locally! Now, seeing how these are uncut, I wanted the rears to be uncut too!
After the blasting of the body was performed, it was heartbreaking as to how bad a shape my little Bronco was. The lower fenders on these are a two piece, that doesn’t mean just go out there and install it, it’s a difficult proposition.
This is my “uncut” version with the higher fender well for larger tires, however notice a lot of work was going on on the bed itself which I can dedicate a blog just to that!
This isn’t so much a how to~ but just that I in my build wanted the uncut look;)
OBVIOUSLY, I’ve since painted the darling little Bronco, but there is a lot of work going on even as I type.
I must say, when I bought this Bronco, I was wanting a challenge and a challenge I got! Plus this is a more high end project as the Broncos go for a considerable amount of money~ however, I rarely sell any of my projects;)
