Gantry crane (Taller is better)

G-mornin, Dne’ here;)ย  At our old house before Harvey, I had fabricated this lift to actually move jet skiis around, but that never happened but wound up being a valuable asset to my shop! However, it was never quite high enough, and I didn’t design it to be extendable.:)

However, Harvey settled in with flood waters which reached 6′ in my shop! I tried saving my Air condition recycling machine by elevating with my gantry crane, and believe it or not, the AC machine still works just fine after replacing the cooling fan inside of it!

I suppose as fate would have it, we moved away from our old place and moved into a new place with a much larger shop for me!! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย  Obviously I tried diligently to make it look like a vintage Texaco station;)

Finally, it was time to bring the gantry crane to its new home! It was no easy task getting onto my new BigTex trailer! My brother helped me, and it was a pretty scary drive, luckily all freeway, mostly.

My new shop on one end used to be storage for a really big RV, so this is my RV section even though I’ll never have an RV. But realized I can now raise this crane to a more usable height!

Just a look at my new really large garage door, it had some awful swing doors!

I can do this!!

Soooo, off to the steel store to buy some legs for my short gantry crane!

You know there are no instructions on how to do this, just have to use imagination and make it happen!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m not going into detail how I welded it or dimensions, but I did make the crane as tall as I could but still be able to roll it out the big garage door!

At this point I hadn’t welded/bolted in the added supports for the new steel legs.

The functionality and usability of the crane, its first major task was to help me disassemble this new 4-post Wildfire lift. No, I would not dare lift the entire package! silly

Call my friend Brad at Wildfire lifts for more questions and pricing. He’s fun to work with and answer any of your questions. I can answer some too! His number is 763-445-9143 or Brad@wildfirelifts.com

Since I work alone 99.9% of the time, the crane did the work in lifting each ramp, which each alone is 750lbs!ย  ย So it helped me put the into place! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Kind of off topic, but my Wildfire lift and Gantry crane are an incredible team at Classic cars and Tools new location!!!;)
