HF Paint Shaker (pneumatic)
HI Classic Car enthusiast fans!
Just a short mention of my new, now used, Harbor Freight Tools paint shaker! I had a gallon can of 2k primer that had sat on a shelf, and it had a slight leak, so I took it to the paint store where I buy my automotive paints to see if they could shake it despite the leaking can. The man wrapped it, but the primer still leaked out and made a mess!:(
So, I bought this paint shaker after reading the reviews online and though they were mixed reviews, for the most part were very good! I wrapped the leaking can with plastic wrap, big time! Then put it in my new paint shaker, and let it shake for about 5 minutes. Previously the man at the paint store couldn’t mix it with a stick, but after 5 minutes in my shaker~ it was mixed and saved a gallon of primer! This gallon of 2k primer is about 50 bucks!
I’m pleased with the purchase. I had mounted the unit initially on my metal workbench, but it shook it so badly that things were vibrating all over the table, then I thought about mounting it to the garage floor, but I wanted it off the floor in a more permanent location! It comes with a small water separator and a little valve to control the air speed. However the way I have it mounted on the wall, I suspect the water separator won’t do much, but I have a large water separator mounted inline.
So I mounted it on the wall in my “clean room”, out of the way. I have a couple bungy straps to make sure that it’s held, I’ll probably get something more secure than a couple bungy cords. The screw mechanism in combination with the rubber grippers does the job holding the can very well, but I just don’t want a paint can to come barreling off the wall and make a mess. Oh, one more thing, it doesn’t seem to use much air as my compressor only comes on briefly, then shuts off, that’s good!
Again, I’m pleased and I’ve shaken all kinds of paints! It handles quarts, pints, gallons at a time and even spray can. Oh, it was on sale for 117.oo, but everything at HF is always on sale!;)
That’s it! dne’ 😉
